Recently TDS was given the opportunity to practice several of its key cultural concepts of Servant Leadership, Quality Design & Excellent Customer Service that define the company and how they strive to do business.

Over the last few months TDS and Apex have started to work closely with DR Horton in Orlando to help develop townhome product for their Express series. In the midst of delivering the first building mixes, TDS was informed that the Architectural Coordinator for DR Horton was taking a leave of absence for health related reasons. Without anyone on staff in the Orlando office with the experience of coordinating across the design disciplines of Architectural, Structural and Mechanical, the team at DR Horton was placed in a position of need.

In a strategy planning meeting the client service team came up with the idea of placing a member of the TDS and Apex team in the DR Horton office once a week for the purpose of lifting as much of the extra burden as possible from the client. DR Horton agreed and for the past month, several key members of the TDS design team have been making the trip down to Orlando to assist in any way possible. DR Horton Operations Manager, Ryan MacDonald, stated “TDS has been instrumental on the design side and while having them present in our office we have been able to implement them into our team and hear their feedback firsthand. The move has been successful so far and there is no reason to cut this partnership short as it is benefitting both teams.” The bold move has already born fruit for the client in the form of helping organize municipal plan review commentary and being an onsite resource for the Permit Coordinators, which has allowed revised plans to be delivered in a matter of hours rather than days.
